Join the CMA and learn about historical and contemporary public restroom design and how it reflects persistent cultural attitudes toward three key aspects of life: gender, class, and disability.

Harvey Molotch, professor of sociology and metropolitan studies at New York University and co-editor of the book Toilet: Public Restrooms and the Politics of Sharing, has a beef with American public bathrooms—the physical design often makes an important everyday experience exceedingly uncomfortable.
