    Bringing Art Classes to the Children of Africa. Artists for Africa has been established to help support Anno's Africa, a non-profit organization which brings arts classes to children in the slums of Kenya. Local artists based here in South Carolina, are coming together to give their talents to support this incredible cause. For now, the program exists only in Nairobi, but with some help, the goal is to spread the program throughout urban Kenya and someday to other countries in Africa.

  • Matthew Caine
    Matthew Caine

      Matthew Caine is Director of Music at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, Camden, SC, where he oversees a comprehensive music program consisting of eight choral and handbell ensembles. He has previously served on the faculties of Claflin University and Allen University and as conductor or assistant conductor of community, symphonic, and professional choruses. Matthew has given presentations at National and Divisional Conferences of the American Choral Directors’ Association. His research on Bulgarian choral music has been published in the Choral Journal, and he has edited over 30 Bulgarian choral works for performance by English-speaking choruses. In addition to conducting major choral-orchestral works both in the United States and abroad, Matthew has also conducted the United States premier of many Bulgarian choral works with Ensemble Mir, a professional chamber chorus he established in 2010. Matthew holds the Bachelor of Music in Church Music from Birmingham-Southern College, the Master of Music Education in Instrumental Music from Samford University, the Master of Music in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance from the University of South Florida, and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of South Carolina. Matthew Ganong, Accompanist Pianist Matthew Ganong grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, and began studying the piano at the age of seven. His first teacher was John Ervin, and then he studied with Professor John Williams of the University of South Carolina from middle school through the end of high school. Mr. Ganong then attended the Peabody Conservatory where he received a Bachelor's degree in piano performance. There he studied piano with Boris Slutsky and Ellen Mack, and harpsichord with Webb Wiggins. He has also studied the pipe organ, under the guidance of Frances Webb. He has worked since college as a professional musician in the cities of Baltimore, Chicago, and Columbia, and along the way has performed and collaborated with many fine artists and ensembles from around the world, and traveled to most of the states in the U.S., as well as to Canada, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Austria, and Japan. He has been a member of the Classical Band with violinist Daniel Heifetz, and in Chicago was a member of the chamber music society Anaphora, the pianist for Intimate Opera Chicago, Da Corneto Opera, and was the harpsichordist and pianist for the Advent Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Ganong has been an avid composer for most of his life, and greatly enjoys composing, improvising, and playing in various styles from the Renaissance to the present day.

    To his close friends, Mikey is the man of the hour who people instantly feel comfortable around him and confide in. Mikey created FUSE from the ground up. It started as his vision of artistic harmony. Since he was little, his father played different genres of music around him which he found the many facets that music holds. This inspiration continues to live with him in the projection of his artistic pieces. He says he seeks to create timeless, pieces of work. Mikey is originally from The Bronx, New York.

     THE Dubber   In the tradition of the Mississippi Delta Bluesmen, THE Dubber confronts the world with only a guitar and his words. The self- taught singer/songwriter continues reinventing himself by fusing the styles of a 30 year musical journey. Rock, Jazz and Funk, flavored with the International sounds of Reggae, Middle Eastern Music and Afro Beat, creates the complex stew that helps him express his blues in an innovative and distinct manner.   Since 2005, the Washington DC born/South Carolina based musician has been trailblazing through America with an honest and intimate stage show. His sophisticated one man band guitar style and universal message of ONENESS, keeps THE Dubber booked year round. Always a crowd favorite, he has played such prestigious events as the South by Southwest Music Conference (Austin TX) and the Mid-Atlantic Music Conference (Charlotte NC).    With radio airplay here and abroad, a U.S. and European tour, plus three albums under his belt, "In the Temple of…" 2005, "Global Warning" 2010 and the recently released "Cleaning Up The Dirty South" 2014. THE Dubber is currently touring the American South to promote the latest album now movement under the same title. Partially funded by the South Carolina Art Commission, this project has taken a life of its own due to the candid message he delivers on the status of social and cultural progressions since his 8 years living and touring the South.

  • Terrance Henderson

    An International award winning choreographer, Terrance has been the creative force behind Columbia’s own Vibrations Dance Company serving as Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer for over 10 years. Terrance is now also developing independent dance/theater projects under his personal brand T.O. Henderson Dance Incorporated (TO DANCE, Inc) with whom he is presenting his latest original work HOLE IN MY BUCKET: a perspective through dance image word and sound here at the 2013 Rogue Festival. Terrance was the 2009 Artist Fellow for the state in Dance Performance and later that same year received the BRONZE LEO AWARD for Outstanding Jazz Choreography at the Jazz Dance World Congress in Chicago- a first for a choreographer from South Carolina. A company member at Trustus Theater-South Carolina’s only professional theater, Terrance’s has served as choreographer and director for multiple productions and has been seen as a performer on the main-stage in such shows as Next to Normal, Passing Strange, Smokey Joes Cafe, Hair, and Rent. Terrance is also on the dance faculty at both Columbia Ballet School and Southeastern School of Ballet and has been the long-term artist in residence in the public schools at Logan Elementary where he has been teaching dance and drama now for 15 years.

    Markos Hurtt, 22, is a Public Relations student at the University of South Carolina. After he graduates, he intends to use The Hip Hop Geek (LLC) to represent local hip hop performance and/or fashion centered businesses via brand management, image consulting, artist development. Other services include event planning and directing event operations. He wouldn’t talk the talk of he didn’t walk so if you’ve never heard a Geek rap, or if you’d like to do so again, consider booking The Hip Hop Geek as a performing act at your next function.

    I uncovered my passion for music during my first choir practice at Mt. Zion MBC in San Bernardino, CA, when I was just 11 years old. I also looked up to my late uncle Al Wilson as well-he was a real pioneer for the Mississippi Soul Sound. I followed my dreams to Columbia, SC, to study fine arts under Dr. Linda Kershaw at Benedict College. I later became the CEO of the BRBA and Good Music Columbia, the managing firm for  ON Sessions Entertainment Company.

    Clayton King has been seen in numerous musical theatrical productions, most recently as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray at Town Theatre. Since relocating from Texas in 2009, Clayton has also been seen in the musical roles of St. Aphrodesius in the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Frank Abagnale, Sr. in Catch Me If You Can, and Gomez Addams in The Addams Family, Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, Childcatcher in Chitty Chitty, Bang Bang, and the Baker in Into the Woods. He has also portrayed Boris Kholenkov in You Can’t Take it With You, Felix Geisel in The Game’s Afoot, and Mandy in A Christmas Miracle at Richland Fashion Mall. While in Texas, Clayton appeared in many productions in Galveston County and the Houston area. His favorite was Mr. Applegate in Damn Yankees, for which he received the GC Circle of Theatre award for best actor in a musical role. A cabaret performer at heart, Clayton has performed a number of venues along the Texas Gulf Coast– notably The Million Dollar Dump and Baha Sam’s, both in Houston.

    Lang Owen is a Columbia, SC-based singer-songwriter. “Songs about something that seems like nothing but feels like everything” is how singer songwriter Lang describes She’s My Memory, set for release in June 2022. Exemplifying Owen’s comment “There’s always a story,” the album’s title song tells of a man with Alzheimer’s who only recalls his life through stories of humble but defining marital moments told by his wife. This ten song collection will strike a chord with listeners who share the hope to live love and purpose in a swirling world of relentless change. Lang released his debut album Welcome To Yesterday in 2019, which South Carolina Music Writer Kevin Oliver hailed as “evocative storytelling at its finest.” The Post & Courier Free times included Welcome to Yesterday on its “But What About THIS Album” list in their Best South Carolina Music 2019 edition.

    My name is Fatima and I am a veteran of the military. I became an artist upon my separation from the service to help combat my PTSD. Growing up in NYC, i was exposed to broadway, graffiti art, dance culture, creative journalism and many other forms of artistry. Some projects that i have published are an EP by the title of ‘SageTheDay’ which can be found on Apple Music and Spotify. I’ve also self published two books of micro poetry which can be found on Apple Books and Amazon books. My writing incorporates nature, giving it personified characteristics and my painting is impulsive, giving it spiritual properties that tend to tell a soul’s story.
