We the People: Portraits of Veterans in America by Mary Whyte

WE THE PEOPLE is a collection of watercolor portraits of military veterans from each of the fifty states: men and women, young and old, from all walks of life. It is both a tour across our vast country and an excursion through the heart and souls of the patriots who have committed to protecting our Constitution, and our country, and our very lives.

Please join us for a lecture and book signing Thursday, November 7, 5:30-7 p.m. Pre-registration is recommended, as space is limited. A cash bar will be available at the event.

Mary Whyte is an artist and author whose watercolor paintings have earned international recognition. Her works have been exhibited nationally as well as in China and have been featured in numerous publications stateside and in France, Germany, Russia, Canada, China, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan. She is the author of six books and is the recipient of the Portrait Society of America’s Gold Medal and the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award, South Carolina’s highest honor in the arts.  All royalty proceeds benefit the Patriot Art Foundation, a nonprofit that uses visual arts to honor the veterans who have served our country, celebrate their return to civilian life, and assist them in the re-entry process.

Parking spots in the adjoining Park Street Garage are subject to availability and are not guaranteed by the Alumni Center. The garage is managed by the City of Columbia who charges hourly rates for parking.
