Walter Parks, the longtime guitarist and sideman to Woodstock legend Richie Havens and leader of Swamp Cabbage, is returning to Columbia where he last played the Columbia Blues fest. Currently based in the New York City area, Parks is ga ining national and European momentum for his southern fingerpicked tremolo guitar style and raspy vocals which both conspire in tribute to his native Jacksonville, Florida upbringing. At 56, writer of theme songs for HBO, Discovery Chann el and film, Walter Parks has played The Glastonbury Festival in the UK, Carnegie Hall and Madison Square Garden. This past July, Walter performed a duet with Judy Collins at Lincoln Center in Manhattan for the Pete Seeger Tribute. Fans of Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits would be well advised to attend.
