The Essay Film

Experience the freedom to explore your voice while delving into a story of your choice.  Students will create their own essay film using a variety of found footage and original material. The essay film is an experimental style of filmmaking that showcases the personal and subjective experience while incorporating traditional elements of documentary.  Students will learn the basics of shooting video, recording audio and voice-overs, and video editing in premiere pro. Led by award-winning filmmaker Lillian Burke. No prior experience with video is necessary, however access to either archival materials or a DSLR/video camera will be helpful.
