We invite you to join the College of Arts and Sciences for the 2016 Townsend Lecture as we welcome Elizabeth Engelhardt, the John Shelton Reed Distinguished Professor of Southern Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Boardinghouses, commonly run by Southern women, served as the foundation of Southern cuisine and the backdrop to many of the South’s defining moments on race, gender and social class.
