Paintings by Dylan Critchfield-Sales

The Beauty of the Ordinary.

Dylan Critchfield-Sales was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art (Baltimore, MD) in 2008 where he worked with Barry Nemett, Sangram Majumdar and Mark Karnes. During the Summer of 2007 he had the opportunity to study in Umbria, Italy at the International School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture where he continued to work with Barry Nemett, Dan Gustin and Israel Hershberg.  In 2009, he was the recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields grant. In the spring of 2011 he completed his Master of Fine Arts at The Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Arts at Indiana University. Shortly thereafter, he spent six months as a studio assistant to the internationally renowned painter, Odd Nerdrum, in Norway and France. In 2011-12 he was an Artist in Residence at the 701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, SC. Since then he has taught drawing and painting classes at the University of South Carolina.

In the summer of 2016 he received a second Elizabeth Greenshields grant which made it possible to teach a class with the Jerusalem Studio School in Civita Castellana, Italy in the summer of 2017. Dylan has shown in Baltimore MD, Middletown DE, Pittsburgh PA, Naples FL, Bloomington IN and Stavern NO and Columbia, SC.
