Artists Supporting Artists: The Artist Support Grant
One Columbia's Artist Support Grant will award two Midlands artists $1,000 each in unrestricted funding. Local artists made this grant possible because they want to help fellow creatives keep making work.
Your art shapes the culture, economy, and character of the Midlands. This grant is a way for the creative community to give some of that back.
Funding for the Person Behind the Work
Most arts grants tie funding to a specific project, exhibition, or performance. This one doesn't. Supporting artists means supporting the people who make the work, so you decide how to spend the money.
You can use your award for:
- Art supplies and materials
- Professional development
- Medical expenses
- Transportation
- Household bills
- Other personal or professional needs
Sometimes the most helpful thing isn't funding your next project. It's helping you take care of yourself so you can keep creating.
A Grant Built by Artists, for Artists
The Artist Support Grant is a different kind of community investment. Artists who know the challenges of sustaining a creative practice chose to invest in their peers. That generosity reflects the collaborative spirit that keeps our creative community strong.
"What makes this grant particularly special is that it is funded by artists who understand those challenges firsthand and want to support their fellow creatives. It's a powerful example of what happens when artists invest in one another and in the strength of their creative community."
— Xavier Blake, Executive Director, One Columbia for Arts and Culture
We hope this grant does more than meet an immediate need. We want it to inspire ongoing support for the well-being of artists throughout the Midlands.
