An exhibition of paintings on paper, canvas and wood panels, along with an interactive installation, Offerings to the Guardians.

The gallery is available for public viewing Mondays from 2-5 pm and Tuesday-Friday from 9 am – 5 pm. The Gallery at the Koger Center is also open one hour prior to any evening events in the Koger Center.

From the time we clutch our first thick crayon, we as humans claim the unalienable right to create, to express what can’t be voiced with words. Creating art helps Heidi Darr-Hope understand what it is to be human.

Having worked as a professional artist and teacher for over 40 years, her approach to art-making and teaching are well honed. Both are influenced by her enthusiastic passion for travel, her quest to understand her nighttime dreams and her longing to find the quiet in the roar. Her art and her teaching are intuitive expressions of the universal search for meaning. This quest has taken her across the world studying spiritual rituals in India and Bali, Mexican death traditions, Jungian Dream psychology, Tibetan mandalas, and expressive writing. Creating Brave®, Darr-Hope’s workshop series, weaves together her life experiences and professional art techniques into an interdisciplinary approach that uses art as the vehicle to promote understanding and healing.

Join us for the exhibit reception on November 12, 2026, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. There will be an artist talk at 6 p.m.!

Artist Statement

Living into my seventh decade, I find myself drawn toward the questions that refuse to be answered.

Journeys Between Sea and Sky began quietly, several years before the world changed. Over time, the works gathered into a kind of visual language—an unfolding conversation between the known and the unknowable, between what is lost and what has yet to emerge.

I did not always know what I was making. Perhaps the deeper knowing arrived first.

These works inhabit a threshold: where certainty gives way to possibility, where endings become openings, where we are asked to loosen our grip on the life we imagined and listen for what is calling us forward.

There is beauty here, but also unease. Wonder alongside grief. Fragility beside resilience. The vastness of the world held within the intimate space of a single life.

I think of listening as a form of courage—a willingness to remain open long enough for something unexpected to reveal itself.

Perhaps these journeys are not about finding answers at all, but about learning how to inhabit the questions.

To listen.

To imagine.

To begin again.
