This painting, located in the third level gallery to the left of the Walker Local History Room, depicts Henry Timrod, a South Carolina poet. Timrod spent the last years of his life in Columbia as the assistant editor of the Carolinian daily newspaper. He served with the Confederate Army as a war correspondent but resigned in 1862 due to illness. Timrod was buried in Columbia Trinity Churchyard.
