  • Sylvan Brothers
  This memorable piece of functional art was installed by the Sylvan Brothers in 1906. The  clock was The clock was designed by the Seth Thomas Clock Company; family-owned and operated in America. The Main Street Clock at Main and Washington streets is similar, but not the work of Thomas. -scpictureproject.org The clock serves as more than a timepiece in that it is often found in the background of images of Main Street, allowing viewers to validate time, date and location in otherwise vague images of Columbia history. This is one of two similar clocks in our state capital, the other is located on the corner of Main and Washington streets.
