The 22,000 square foot, 88- foot-high, 2-million gallon tank was constructed 32 years ago. and the design that depicts a golfer and palmetto tree silhouetted in front of a South Carolina sunset is painted by Eric Henn, a nationally known muralist who specializes in water tank murals. The tower depicts golfers with the backdrop of a Palmetto tree and a crescent moon. It was painted on the 3,800 tiles that the water tower is comprised of.
The word “Cayce” with a Gamecock in the “C” is another feature. The tower overlooks the practice range of the University of South Carolina’s Golf Team and the Par-Tee Driving Range. The color of the tower includes the various shades of a calm and soothing sunset. Public Works of HeART came together to work on this community crowded funded project, bringing a creative asset to the City of Cayce.
