For 19 years the UU Coffeehouse has sponsored singer-songwriters who tour nationally and internationally. The musical styles of the performers vary but include Americana, folk, bluegrass, country, blues, and jazz. The venue is a "listening room" type of setting. Attendance averages 80 per show, ranging from 50 to 180. The venue is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia, but is not a church event; it is a public venue, and the majority who attend are the general public from the community. Fifteen to twenty shows are scheduled from September through May. Coffee and desserts are available for purchase.
