Cultural Passport

onecola_passport_blackWhat is a “cultural passport?”

Based on the principle that passports provide access to new experiences, One Columbia has developed cultural passports for Columbians to utilize when attending events and venues in our city. With both tangible books and a corresponding mobile app available for iPhone, passport holders collect stamps by attending events and visiting venues (galleries, museums, etc.).

How does it work?

Get a book or download the iPhone application. Where do I get this book, you ask? Stop by the One Columbia office at 1219 Taylor Street anytime Tuesday through Friday between 1:30 and 5 pm.

I’ve got my passport, now what?

Find an event you want to go to by visiting onecolumbiasc.com or using the handy list of events in the Cultural Passport app. Go to the event and visit the box office or information table. They’ll stamp your passport with the stamp for the host organization in the appropriate genre. Or, find the poster with the Cultural Passport icon on it and use the app to check in all by yourself. Be sure to enjoy the event and have a good time.

What happens as you collect stamps?

As you collect stamps in multiple categories, you earn rewards for your “travels.” There are various reward levels at different increments.

Five stamps across two different artistic genres – $5 (or equivalent) voucher to a participating local restaurant, a poster, or some kid-friendly art supplies

Ten stamps across four different artistic genres – $10 (or equivalent) voucher to a participating local restaurant, or some bigger and better kid-friendly art supplies

Fifteen stamps across six different artistic genres – Your very own cultural passport t-shirt!

Twenty stamps across all eight different artistic genres – Passes to cultural events!

Redeem your stamps by bringing you passport (or app) to the One Columbia office at 1219 Taylor Street weekdays 2-5pm. Rewards may vary depending upon availability.

What’s the timeline?

The collection of stamps runs for a year, culminating in August 2015 and promptly starting again with new stamps and incentives. Be prepared for a good party to reward the jet-setters who collected the most stamps!

Organizations

Are you an organization that wants to participate?

Unique stamps have been provided for many organizations/venues in and around Columbia. If you want your organization to participate, if they aren’t already, then contact us at info@onecolumbiasc.com.

What does the organization have to do?

When a passport holder presents their passport, give them a stamp to signify that they were at your event/venue. Tell the customer that they are awesome and thank them for supporting the arts. For the users of the mobile app, just simply place the poster you’ve been provided in a conspicuous place to let the customer check-in at your event/venue. Want to let people know that you participate in the cultural passport? Put a logo on your website!
