1013 Co-Op is our latest project in partnership with Columbia Children’s Theatre, the Jasper Project, and the Magic Purple. The purpose of this space is to establish a shared cultural space in the North Columbia area at the 1013 Duke house–the former home to Indie Grits Labs. We hope to add to the vibrant communities of North Columbia and facilitate cultural experiences in the North Columbia community. Over the next few months One Columbia, Columbia Children’s Theatre, the Jasper Project, and The Magic Purple Circle presented by artist and storyteller Darion McCloud will be setting up offices and shared spaces for collaboration and community connection around the arts. As the facility becomes more established, One Columbia and is partners will seek opportunities to connect and work with the communities around the space both to serve the community and share in cultural expression.
The 1013 Co-Op and the goals that One Columbia has identified for the cultural space are a direct response to several of the Amplify Columbia cultural plan recommendations. The recently finalized plan will be presented to the Columbia City Council on October 20, 2020.
