Students Helping Honduras, or SHH, is an international non-profit organization that aims to alleviate extreme poverty and violence in Honduras through education and youth empowerment. One of the main projects that Students Helping Honduras takes on is known as the “1,000 Schools Project”. This project received its name because in Honduras there are an estimated 1,000 villages that do not have safe access to an education. SHH is on a mission to build a school in each of these villages. The SHH chapter at the University of South Carolina has been a part of building and completing three schools in Honduras and we cannot wait to continue to work on more! Our project for 2017 is a special needs school called Pesca Milagrosa in the city of San Manuel.
