Friends of African American Art and Culture is a membership affiliate group of people across genders, ethnicities and ages brought together by their appreciation of artistic and cultural contributions of African Americans.

"The excitement from the popular Chemistry of Color exhibition in 2009 sparked a momentum that resulted in the formation of this dynamic group," Karen Brosius, executive director, said. The new energetic board includes members of the CMA board and several new volunteers, all of whom are eager to share their passion for African-American art."

FAAAC executive committee includes: Brandolyn Thomas Pinkston, president; Darion McCloud, vice-president; Susan Thorpe, secretary and Waltene Whitmire, treasurer. Board members are Michaela Pilar Brown, Kyle C. Coleman (Museum staff liaison), Allen Coles, Therese Griffin, Preach Jacobs, Javana D. Lovett and Mike Miller.

I am proud to be the inaugural president of this new group and I am dedicated to furthering the education of African American art," Brandolyn Thomas Pinkston, FAAAC president, said. "Our board is eager to partner with the Museum to pursue our goals by providing a multitude of programs, lectures and exhibits."
