{AVillage and Then Some} African Fest & Story Telling

A to Zed will be presenting the third annual cultural event, “A Village & Then Some”, at TAPP’S Art Center from 5:50-9:00 pm EST on Saturday, March 10, 2018. The program is presented in English and designed for families, couples, and singles. The event will be located at TAPP’S Art Center, 1644 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201. Tickets are available for advanced purchase at Eventbrite.com for $15.00 until March 7th Enter ‘A VILLAGE & THEN SOME’. March 8 thru the 10th tickets will be found at TappsArtsCenter.com and are $20.00 online and at the door.
While everyone is in the spirit of #WakandaForever, now is a good time to have real conversations and ask sincere questions and learn about Africa. Hosting the event is Kojo Donquah-Duah of Ghana. Returning from 2016 to perform African Dance is Lady Grace Inyangetor. The 2018 Residing Chief is Chief Albert Adom Owusu. Other guests include 2017 Chief Tonna Celestine Okei of Nigeria and Shea Ra’Mond Harley, and James Shadd.
Attendees will sample dishes from Zambia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Senegal. They will be captivated through the oral traditions of storytelling that mentally knits the common thread of experience of people from African lands. Those who choose to participate are encouraged to relax and allow their bodies to get lost in the rhythms of cultural dance presentations with the traditional sounds of the African villages. Cultural and African attire is encouraged.
A to Zed, short for America to Zambia, is a non-profit 501(c)3 foundation dedicated to enriching the lives of children in Africa. The foundation accomplishes the mission by providing the children in private schools, orphanages and village schools (also referred to as community schools), other locations with the tools, exposure and empowerment needed to become inspired and educated. Volunteering professionals who accompany A to Zed to Zambia impact the survival and growth of the children. Donations are welcome, and the event is open to the public.
