Indigo Silk Scarf Workshop

Come join us for a hand on workshop learning the basics in Indigo dyeing and creating patterns using the ancient art of Shibori. Students will be taught how to set up their own Indigo vat. The different techniques of Shibori will be explored including binding, clamping and tying. There will also be a new technique taught – Itajimi Shibori, which is a folding a clamping technique. After exploring all of these techniques and creating beautiful textile patterns, the student will be able to apply their new knowledge and go home with a beautiful silk scarf.

All materials are provided. Please wear comfortable clothing/shoes.

Instruction by Caroline Harper, who has launched Chi Design Indigo and focuses on producing textiles for home good and fashion accessories, hand dyed with natural indigo and made with natural fibers. She is now harvesting small batches of South Carolina Indigo plants.

Registration fee of $45 is due by February 19, 2018. Minimum of 3 in class and Maximum of 12.
