Faith Ringgold: Ancestor Project II

American artist Faith Ringgold is a painter, writer, speaker, mixed media sculptor and performance artist who lives and works in Englewood, New Jersey. Ringgold is a professor emeritus at the University of California, San Diego where she taught art from 1987 until 2002. Professor Ringgold is the recipient of more than 75 awards, including 22 Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degrees. Faith Ringgold’s talk will be held on March 27, 2018.

 

In March of 2017, Faith Ringgold, along with artists Grace Mathews and Linda Freeman, traveled to Paris, France to begin working on a second series of quilted and narrative works titled: Ancestor Project II. The works will be on view from February 9th to April 7th in the Benedict College Ponder Gallery.  This exhibition conceived by Faith Ringgold is a collaborative project that include eight artists all working on the theme of ancestors.  Works in this exhibition will inspire us all to rise up with our ancestors to dance and sing songs of joy, love, understanding, forgiveness, and peace for a better world. The Ponder Gallery is excited to unveil this new body of work.
The Ponder Gallery is located in the Ponder Fine Arts Building, second floor, on the main campus of Benedict College. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
