Celtic Tenors at Sumter Opera House

Presented by Sumter Opera House at Sumter Opera House

The only tenor group with a truly global audience, The Celtic Tenors will be at the Sumter Opera House on Saturday, December 9th to give audience members a night to remember. Part of a rare two-week tour through North America, their stop in Sumter is one of only five stops they will be making in the United States.

“More than just world-class artists, you’ll see their genuine love of music shine through each rendition of beautiful Celtic songs, exhilarating classics, popular contemporary songs, and Christmas favorites,” says Cultural Manager, Seth Reimer. “We are thrilled to have them as part of our Main Stage Series. Anyone that comes to this show is assured of a professional, festive, and also good-humored performance when these three take the stage!”

The Celtic Tenors include Matthew Gilsenan, James Nelson, and Daryl Simpson. They have released seven records with the EMI, Telarc and Dara labels. Their first album, “The Celtic Tenors” (released in 2000) went on to achieve double platinum status in their homeland, No.1 in Ireland and Germany, Number 2 in the UK, and won them the “Echo Award” for “Best Classical Crossover Act” in Germany. Over the next 10 years, they released “So Strong” and “The Irish Album” (2002), “We Are Not Islands” and “Remember Me” (2005) and “Hard Times” (2009).
Their most recent album, “Feels Like Home” (released in September 2011) contains among others the following songs: “Going Home”, “Red Haired Mary”, “No Frontiers”, “Feels Like Home”, “Dimming of the Day”, the Welsh “Suo Gan” and The Celtic Tenors original “I Know That You Care”. The Omagh Community youth choir, of which Daryl Simpson is the founder and director, is featured on the songs “Better” and “Westering Home”.

If you’ve ever wanted to see this trio of world-class artists while they are “across the pond” from their
Ireland home, then be sure to grab your tickets today!
