Holiday Harmonies

Presented by Palmetto Mastersingers at St Andrews Baptist Church

The Palmetto Mastersingers begins its 36th season with “Holiday Harmonies.” As South Carolinas’ ambassadors to the world this all-male chorus lead by Dr. Lillian Quackenbush will warm your hearts and entertain you with both classical and seasonal music. This concert is presented two times Friday Nov. 17 at St Andrews Baptist on Bush River Rd and again Saturday Nov. 18 at Shandon Presbyterian at the corner of Woodrow and Devine both at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and available at www.palmettomastersingers.org or at the door.

Some of the choral pieces are patriotic “The Testament of Freedom,” “God Bless America,” spirituals and Christmas songs “Mary Had a Baby,” and “A Feast of Carols.”

Dr. Quackenbush became artistic director of the Mastersingers in 2016. She is the recipient of the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Governor’s Award, presented by the South Carolina Arts Commission for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts. “As the wife of one of the original members of the Palmetto Mastersingers, I can well remember the strength and beauty in the singing of so many talented men. I am honored to be leading the ensemble toward a future that recaptures that sound and the joy from which it comes,” she said.
