Physics & Astronomy Public Lecture: “The Dark Energy of Condensed Matter Physics”
You are cordially invited to attend a special public lecture sponsored by the SmartState Center for Experimental Nanoscale Physics and the Department of Physics and Astronomy at USC. Our speaker will be Dr. Laura Greene, who currently serves as president of the American Physical Society and chief scientist at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. Dr. Greene is also the Francis Eppes Professor of Physics at Florida State University.
Her public lecture will take place on Thursday, November 16 at the W.W. Hootie Johnson Performance Hall in the Darla Moore School of Business (Room #101) at 5:30 pm. The title of her talk will be, The Dark Energy of Condensed Matter Physics: High-Temperature Superconductivity. The content will be presented at a level accessible to a broad general audience.
This lecture is free of charge and all are welcome to attend! No reservations are required, but seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please visit www.physics.sc.edu/lectureseries. The event will also celebrate the launch of The Richard A. Webb Condensed Matter Symposium Series.
Please feel free to share this announcement with your family, friends, colleagues, and anyone who may be interested. We look forward to seeing you on November 16!
