An African Experience at the Lourie Center

Presented by Lourie Center at Lourie Center

The Lourie Center, in partnership with Columbia’s Gye Nyame Ensemble, presents “Echoes of the Past, Present, and Future:

An African Experience”, on Saturday, November 18, 2017,  6-7:15 pm.

Queen T, leader and principal dancer for Gye Nyame Ensemble, has assembled an incredible roster of local and regional dancers, drummers, and storyteller talent for this one-night-only event.  “Echoes of the Past, Present, and Future”, will feature traditional west African dances from Mali, Guinea, and Liberia, and will highlight the spiritual journey of west Africa through song, dance, and story.  The performance features guest artists Danvin Lail, musical director for Oneaka Dance Company (Charlotte, North Carolina) and the Adande West African Dance Drummers (North Charleston, South Carolina) led by Jesse L. Thrower.

“You do not want to miss this stimulating evening of celebrating African culture through dance and drum”, assures Queen T.
