Remembering Columbia | Hampton-Preston Mansion

Presented by Historic Columbia at Robert Mills Carriage House

Urban estate, convent, college campus, house museum – Columbia’s Hampton-Preston Mansion has served these and many other roles for nearly 200 years. Join Historic Columbia’s Director of Cultural Resources, John Sherrer, in this special Remembering Columbia session devoted to commemorating the site’s upcoming bicentennial through an analysis of the site’s past and a preview of future programs and capital improvements.

This series is an extention of John Sherrer’s visual guide to Columbia’s past, Remembering Columbia. Using historic photographs as a vehicle to discover stories of Columbia and Richland County, Sherrer leads participants through conversations and activities that explore Columbia’s past. Learn about the events, places and people that have shaped our community’s history through these featured photographs, many of which have never been seen by the public before this lecture series.
