The Point of View Film Series returns this month with a special three day run (August 21st – 23rd) of Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive (2014). Featuring an all-star cast of Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, and John Hurt, this romantic tale has all the laconic cool you've come to expect from Jarmusch in films such as Down By Law (1986), Dead Man (1995), and Stranger Than Paradise (1984).
Set against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangier, an underground musician, Adam (Hiddleston), deeply depressed by the direction of human activities, reunites with his resilient and enigmatic lover, Eve (Swinton). Their love story has already endured several centuries at least, but their debauched idyll is soon disrupted by her wild and uncontrollable younger sister, Ava (Wasikowska) . Can these wise but fragile outsiders continue to survive as the modern world collapses around them? — Sony Classics.com
