The Dick Goodwin Big Band programs a wild potpourri of styles – drawing from the big band (Sinatra) era, but also new arrangements of selections often from surprising sources. The Band boasts some of the most respected performers in the area … USC music professors, SC Philharmonic members, and top area music educators. Vocalists Kristi Hood and John Wilkinson are consummate musicians who add flair and a wide variety to the program. Dr. Goodwin is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of South Carolina and is a recipient of the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award, the highest honor given by the State of South Carolina to an individual artist. His compositions in virtually every idiom, from jingle to opera and jazz band to orchestra have been performed across the US and abroad. He is a Yamaha Artist and recording studio composer/arranger/producer.
