5th Eclipse 2017 Conference for the All-American Total Solar Eclipse

The American Astronomical Society (AAS) will be holding a conference and workshop about the August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse in Columbia on March 31, 2017 and April 1, 2017. The workshop will be held at the South Carolina State Museum on March 31 and on the USC campus on April 1. The USC location is the Amoco Hall (Swearingen Engineering Center, Room 1C01) in the College of Engineering at 301 Main Street.

**NOTE THAT THE ENTIRE CONFERENCE (BOTH DAYS) WILL BE FREE FOR STUDENTS. Please encourage students to register. They need to choose “waive” in the online registration form in order to register without paying the $100 registration fee.**

The event is also open to the general public from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on both days. Please encourage your friends to attend as well!

The speakers will include solar astrophysicists and the program will target various aspects of the eclipse event, its significance, best observing strategies, etc. This is a tremendous opportunity for anyone planning to organize or participate in eclipse-related activities in August.
