Columbia’s if ART Gallery presents on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, 7:00 p.m., a staged reading by Columbia’s NiA Theatre Company of Pearl Cleage’s play A Song For Coretta. Admission is free.
Directed by Bonita Peeples and starring Marilyn Matheus, Michaela Pilar Brown, Molly Ledford, Trinessa Dubas, Loretta Brown, Amanda McSwine and Tyler Powe, NiA brings to life Pearl Cleage’s story of five women standing in line to pay final respects to civil rights heroine Coretta Scott King. Various reasons have brought these women to this place and their time together reveals not only their truths but their secrets. A Song For Coretta is both historical and topical.
The NiA Theatre Company is a multi-ethnic theatre company founded by Columbia actor, director, storyteller, educator and activist Darion McCloud.
