Mid-Carolina Camellia Society Flower Show

Mid-Carolina Camellia Society Flower Show

Presented by Mid-Carolina Camellia Society at South Carolina State Farmers Market

The Mid-Carolina Camellia Society will host its annual winter Camellia Show on Saturday February 11, 2017 at the Phillips Market Center at the South Carolina State Farmer’s Market in West Columbia, SC.

This show is one of the South’s largest and most prestigious Camellia events, exhibiting about 1500 blooms, and attracting Camellia growers/cultivators from as far north as Virginia and as far south as Florida. Exhibitors arrive as early as 7am to place their blooms for judging, which takes place from 10:30 until noon. The Show is free and open to the public from 1pm – 5pm.

First time visitors are often taken aback by the sheer beauty and sizes of the different varieties that are grown locally and in other parts of the country.

This is a fun event for all ages. This year we are encouraging any and all local residents who have never shown before to participate by bringing their most beautiful blooms. Arrive before 10:30am & members will be on call to guide novice exhibitors through the process of placing their flowers in the correct category by identifying each bloom. The Society will also award the best local novice blooms with monetary prizes of $25 – $100.

The Mid-Carolina Camellia Society will also have experts on hand to give guidance to those who want to improve or add Camellia’s to their home’s landscape, as well as identify existing plants. Camellia plants will be available to purchase, as well as membership applications and Camellia publications.
