Gypsy Jazz with Andy Page and Matt Williams
1934 saw the penultimate lineup of Paris’ hottest band, Quintette du Hot Club de France: Romani guitarist Django Reinhardt and French violinist Stephane Grappelli. These two seminal musicians would become the face of an emerging genre known alternately as Jazz Manouche, Gypsy Swing, Swing Gitane, or as we refer to it today – Gypsy Jazz. Combine the energy and swing of traditional American jazz with the rich harmonies and dark chromaticism of gypsy music and one just begins to scratch the surface of the wonderful complexity that is Gypsy Jazz.
Join the Page brothers, Andy on guitar and Zack on bass, along with Asheville, North Carolina, jazz violinist Matt Williams as they channel an era long since past, yet still very relevant today.
