Black Medicine/White Bodies: An Investigation of Charleston’s Yellow Fever Epidemics 1854-1871 focuses on the role of traditonal African folk healers in the South Carolina Lowcountry. This performance is based upon historical expereiences of newly arrived European immigrants, long-term Charleston Residents, and African slaves during the yellow fever epidemics that took place between 1854 and 1871.
