Audition to be a part of the Million Dollar Quartet at Town Theatre

On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought together Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley at Sun Records’ storefront studio in Memphis, TN. The man who made it happen was the “Father of Rock’n’Roll,” Sam Phillips, who discovered them all. The four legends-to-be united for the only time in their careers for an impromptu recording session that has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time.

The show will be directed by Shannon Scruggs with musical direction by Jeremy Hansard. Performances will be March 3-19, 2017 (Thursday through Saturdays at 8 PM; Sundays at 3 PM).

Auditions will be held on Sunday and Monday, December 4 and 5 at 7:00 PM. Please read the character listings online to understand how to prepare. Many of the actors must be able to accompany yourself on acoustic guitar, electric guitar or piano performing a song by one of the artists listed above. If you are auditioning for Jerry Lee Lewis, we’ll supply the piano, otherwise bring a guitar. If you are auditioning for the role of the drummer, we will provide a drum kit at auditions. Sam Phillips are likely to be asked to come to callbacks only which will be scheduled at a later date.

Please email shannon@towntheatre.com to confirm that you are coming to audition. Please indicate which day you wish to attend and what roles you are seeking. Those interested are welcome to view a perusal score/script at the theatre. E-mail Shannon or call 803-799-2510 to make an appointment to do so.
