Longing for some quiet calm during the busy chaos of December’s joyous celebration? Healing Icons, a nonprofit on a mission to inspire, nurture and heal the entire human being – body, mind, and spirit – through creative expression, breathing techniques, and meditative practice, invites you to witness the marvel of the painstaking creation of the unique and exquisite healing Medicine Buddha Sand Mandala, created with millions of grains of sand over 5 days at Stormwater Studio by the Monks of Drepung Loseling Monastery, on their Mystical Arts of Tibet tour. Consecrating the space and calling forth the forces of goodness through chant mantras; designing the outlines of the Medicine Buddha Mandala.
Closing Ceremony, Saturday, 12/17, 11:00-1:00 The sand mandala will be deconstructed, a metaphor for the impermanence of life. The sands will be swept up, and to fulfill the function of healing, half will be distributed to the audience, while the remainder will be carried to a nearby body of water. The waters carry the healing blessing to the ocean, and from there, it spreads throughout the world for planetary healing.
