Members of the University of South Carolina will present a recital of flute music that offers a musical soundscape to the exhibitA Compass to Guide; South Carolina Cabinetmakers Today. The encounter with any artistic form offers an alternative portal into a collective understanding of culture and history. Just like cabinetmakers worked to supply their surrounding communities with furniture and implements needed in everyday life, musicians bring communities together for entertainment. The concert will highlight various elements of the artisans works including the element wood, musical styles from the 18th and 19th century, music by American composers, and folk music.
