Artist Entrepreneur Incubator: Marketing Beyond the Basics, Session 2

Calling all SC (aspiring) artists! Ever wonder how to monetize your craft? Is the thought of entrepreneurship intimidating? We can tell you how to make a living with YOUR ART!

The Artist Entrepreneur Incubator (AEI) is a virtual series collaboration between the South Carolina Arts Commission and One Columbia for Arts & Culture. AEI is available to artists across disciplines who live and work throughout South Carolina. The series of six-weekly interactive workshops are specifically designed for artists interested in transitioning their craft into a business.

2022/2023 AEI participants in will receive step-by-step coaching on:
shaping their big, creative ideas into marketable products,
forming a viable business model,
and using that model to achieve sustainable success.

These virtual marketing workshops will be facilitated by Newberry College Assistant Professor Paul D. Smith, Jr., who specializes in guiding the growth of small and existing businesses.

Artists of all disciplines are encouraged to attend!

 

Workshop Outline

Instructor
Paul Smith is the CEO of Best Carolina LLC and has been teaching at the Collegiate level since 2004 in all aspects of the business curriculum. He received a B.S. (double major) in Finance and Risk Management from the University of South Carolina and a M.B.A. in Business from Webster University.
Paul is a certified NxLeveL® facilitator (Salt Lake City, Utah) specializing on business start-ups, existing businesses who wish to grow, microenterprises, and specialty training in agriculture-based ventures, going green, signage and money management. Additionally, he is also a FastTrac New Venture Trainer with the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri.

 

Virtual Format: Tuesdays, February 7 – March 14, 6:00 – 8:00 PM

*In addition to honing a business-savvy skillset, participants who complete the course will receive a $200 honorarium and a 1-hour consultation with Professor Smith.
