The CMA welcomes Girls Rock Columbia to Boyd Plaza for their annual camper showcase. During the week of camp, girls, trans youth, and gender-nonconforming youth ages 8 to 17 are grouped into bands and collaborate to write an original song in only five days. Along with everything that goes into learning an instrument and writing music with their band, campers attend empowering workshops including consent and self-defense, using art for advocacy, creating their own band merch like screenprinted t-shirts, and having conversations through their work that break down barriers of gender, race, class, age, and ability. Ten bands take the stage and share what they have to say with Greater Columbia. Free.
