Using acrylic paint and either paper or canvas 16 x 20 and larger, we will use imagery to inspire an expressive abstract painting. Students will use a simplified color palette and focus on complimentary colors to produce a vibrant, abstract painting. After a brief warm up exercise, students will diligently work toward a finished painting.

Students to bring: Basic Acrylic paints (Starter Set: Red, Yellow, Blue, White, Black, Green any brand) or colors of your choosing, styrofoam plates for mixing paint, a brush if you prefer mixing paint that way, a pencil for drawing, paper towels and one of the following: watercolor paper or canvas and a variety of flat and round brushes. Students should bring with them three color swatches (can be from magazines or fabric for color inspiration) and one of their favorite childhood toys or a household item. (Think objects and things not people or places.)
