From Grammy, Emmy, and Academy Award-winning Steve Martin and Grammy Award-winning Edie Brickell, Broadway’s Bright Star is a sweeping tale of fate and family set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 20s and 40s.
When successful literary editor Alice Murphy meets an ambitious young soldier just home from World War II, their connection inspires Alice to confront her past. Bright Star is their story. Spanning two decades, we meet Alice when she is wild and young, growing up carefree in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina and 22 years later as a magazine editor in Asheville.
Bright Star is directed by Marybeth Berry with musical direction by Michel Simmons and choreography by Christy Shealy Mills. Costumes are by Billy Bishop with scenic/lighting design by Danny Harrington. The show is sponsored by Hood Construction and Willis Tax & Accounting.
The show runs March 18 through April 3. Curtain is at 7:30 PM for all shows except for Sunday 3:00 PM matinees. It’s been a while since we have hosted a dessert night at Town. This show gives us the perfect opportunity to do so AND to shine the light on our local restaurant community, who, like us at Town, continues to work hard to return to business as usual.
Get your tickets to the show on Saturday, March 26, OR Saturday, April 2, and we’ll add some delicious desserts to your evening of song. All you have to do is go out to eat ~ at a restaurant of your choice ~ and then bring us the receipt in exchange for dessert, which will be provided complimentary on the patio before the show. Desserts will be served from 6:45 PM to 7:15 PM.
So, on Saturday, March 26 or April 2, go #DineAroundTown at your favorite spot! Bring us the receipt, and you can enjoy dessert on the patio as our guests. Receipts must be dated March 26 or April 2 with a timestamp of 4 PM or later. Don’t worry ~ if you run out of time to grab dinner, we’ll still serve you dessert—your choice of one dessert for $3. Water, soft drinks, beer, and wine will also be available for purchase.
Homemade desserts selections may include Billy’s Bright Star Brownies and Alice’s Apple Crumble (BOTH with an a la mode option!). Either of these options is sure to make your night shine bright!
