Explore a cultural and scientific look at race throughout history and the reasons we should celebrate our differences in the new blockbuster exhibit, RACE: Are We So Different?, presented by Central Carolina Community Foundation.

Developed by the American Anthropological Association in collaboration with the Science Museum of Minnesota, this powerful exhibit will help visitors of all ages examine the biology, history and life experience of race in the United States.

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

The exhibition will address the topics of race from three different perspectives interwoven to tell a dynamic story with a deep social impact.

SCIENCE
Visitors will discover that human beings are more alike than any other living species, and no one gene or set of genes can support the idea of race.

HISTORY
Throughout American history, economic interests, popular culture, science, politics, and the struggle for power have played a role in shaping our understanding of race.

EVERYDAY EXPERIENCE
Race is real socially and culturally. This section of the exhibit, visitors will explore the personal experiences of race in our schools, health care systems, neighborhoods, sports and entertainment industries and more.
