International Comic Arts Forum

USC will host the 18th annual International Comic Arts Forum (or ICAF) at the Inn at USC Wyndham Garden Conference Center from April 14-16, 2016. The schedule of events features over 45 scholarly presentations on the study of comic books and graphic novels. The conference will also spotlight special presentations by comics artists and writers. Highlights include:

– On Thursday, April 14: Keith Knight (The K Chronicles) will headline a special event at the Columbia Museum of Art at 7pm to discuss his work, “They Shoot Black People Don’t They? A Cartoonist’s Look at Police Brutality in the U.S.” Knight will be joined by Charleston poet Gary Jackson (Missing You, Metropolis). 

– On Friday, April 15: Belgian artist Dominque Goblet (Plus si entente) will present at 4pm; Howard Cruse (Gay Comix, Stuck Rubber Baby) will discuss his work at 7pm. 

– On Saturday, April 16: Cece Bell (El Deafo) will give a presentation on her YA graphic novels at 2:30pm; A conversation with Roy Thomas (former editor-in-chief, Marvel Comics) and Sanford Greene (Power Man & Iron Fist) will take place at 4pm.
