Prepare for the spring beer festivals by knocking a few back at the Hampton-Preston Mansion during Hoppy Hour as we explore the history of beer in Columbia. View images of historic breweries, participate in a beer-themed Easter Egg Hunt, and win prizes as we celebrate the brew masters who quenched the city’s thirst for ale. The breweries and saloons of the past paved the path of today’s interest in Columbia’s craft beer market.
“We are excited to have Historic Columbia help kick-off Suds Week this year,” says Jen Hydrick, Midlands Craft Beer Supporters board member and organizer. “When we asked what people wanted to know about craft beer in Columbia, a big topic that came up was the history of beer in the area, as well as history of saloons and bars. Historic Columbia was the natural resource and non-profit partner to ask.”
Historic Columbia’s Hoppy Hour is the first event of Soda City Suds Week, which runs from March 18 to 26. Know your beer history well before joining the rest of the week’s festivities.
