Columbia City Council Candidate Forum on Arts and Culture

Presented by One Columbia and Koger Center for the Arts and The State Newspaper at Koger Center for the Arts

One Columbia for Arts and Culture in partnership with the Koger Center for the Arts and The State Newspaper hosts Columbia City Council Candidates forum on Arts and Culture, Tuesday, September 2, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

This forum offers the opportunity for Columbia City council candidates to communicate their arts-specific platforms, and provide residents, artists, and arts organizations the chance to hear directly from the candidates before the election. The arts are a vital part of the city’s success, it is important that discussions are made possible to highlight the issues directly related to arts and creative practitioners. At this time, all announced candidates for the At-Large, District 1 and District 4 offices have confirmed their attendance.

The City Council Candidate forum will be moderated by Chris Trainor, an award-winning reporter for The State Newspaper. Candidates will be presented with a series of questions about how the arts contribute to Columbia’s development, the role of artists, public support for the arts, and each candidate’s vision for arts and culture in our city.

The forum will take place as an in-person event on September 2, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Koger Center. The event will also be streamed online for those that prefer not to attend in person.
