The University of South Carolina kicks off its twenty-first annual Fall Literary Festival Wednesday, Oct. 14 with Nikky Finney, the first of three free, virtual events with celebrated poets and authors.
South Carolina-born poet Finney was raised during the Civil Rights, Black Power and Black Arts Movements. Elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in April 2020, Finney has published several collections, including Head Off & Split, winner of the 2011 National Book Award for Poetry. She holds the John H. Bennett Jr. Endowed Chair in Creative Writing and Southern Letters at the University of South Carolina.
This virtual event begins at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Authors Kelly Starling Lyons will read Wednesday, Oct. 21 and George Singleton will read Wednesday, Oct. 28.
