COLUMBIA, SC-  The Koger Center for the Arts is proud to announce a partnership with Segra Park, home of the Columbia Fireflies, to create an evening centered around the presentation of the 1951 film version of An American in Paris on Sunday, October 18, 2020. The evening will begin with a concert by the ColaJazz Little Big Band performing a short, 30 minute performance of Gershwin-inspired music before the film of a backdrop of historical films of Paris in the 1930’s produced by the Moving Image Research Collections at the University of South Carolina. The Broadway tour of An American in Paris was scheduled to perform at the Koger Center in April, 2020, however, the tour was cancelled due to COVID-19. We are excited to bring this event to you so that you can enjoy an evening with the film version of this vibrant musical.

Segra Park is working hard to keep you safe during your visit. Normally Segra Park seats 9,077 people, but for this event, we have capped attendance at 650, less than 7% of the available capacity. There will be offerings from their menu including wraps, sandwiches, salads, and specialty cocktails as well as items available in their concession stands.

The ColaJazz Little Big Band is an 8-piece ensemble presenting a wide variety of large ensemble music from Big Band repertoire to the classic small group sound. They will be performing a short, 30-minute performance before the film.

The University of South Carolina’s Moving Image Research Collections (MIRC) preserves films and videos produced outside the American feature film industry to make them available to present and future audiences.

All guests are required to sign a COVID-19 screening form prior to entry to Segra Park and are required to wear a mask at all times, except when eating or drinking.
