Quarantunes: John Thomas Fowler

Quarantunes: John Thomas Fowler

Presented by McKissick Museum at Online/Virtual Space

This month on Quarantunes, McKissick has the pleasure of hosting Johnny Thomas Fowler, mountain-heritage storyteller, Jean Laney Harris Folk Heritage Award recipient, and author on Facebook Live. Fowler has spent more than 30 years sharing the musical traditions and stories of Appalachia. His storytelling combines a wonderful anthology of Appalachian folk tales, fairy tales, outrageous tall tales, and contemporary yarns with traditional songs and ballads. He has been a featured teller at Stone Soup Storytelling Festival, the International Storytelling Festival Exchange Place, Madison County Florida Storytelling Festival and is the host-teller-in-residence at Hagood Mill Storytelling Festival.

Can’t make the live stream? Not to worry! McKissick will upload all performances to YouTube and Facebook for easy viewing at a later date.
