Whisper to a Shout: Social Issues

Whisper to a Shout: Social Issues

Presented by Whisper to a Shout at Online/Virtual Space

In 2018, Abstract Alexandra curated a group of artists to participate in a “whisper game” style art project. Though some artists had to drop out of the project due to schedule conflicts, 11 did complete new works that reflect contemporary painting, collage, poetry, video and mixed media.

‘Whisper to a Shout: Social Issues’ is a serial based project, where one work has to be completed and then passed forward before the next work can be started. Abstract Alexandra initiated this process with her painting. Once finished, she scheduled a meeting to show her work to the next artist. She explained the subject, her thought processes and inspirations. In a sense, the “whisper” part of the “whisper game”. The process continued forward in this manner through 11 artists.

Though originally intended as a real world exhibition, shuttered galleries and COVID-19 put the future of all of this work on uncertain ground. In order to attempt to keep the experience of this series as intended, the artists decided to create a virtual version to offer patrons.

Beginning with Abstract Alexandra on August 31st, each artist will post images of their work for 7 days. They may include detail images, work in progress images, and notes on their process or inspirations. Other information that may be included are their artist’s statements on this particular work, their biographies, their art CVs and links to their social media. They will be available on the Page during that week to respond to comments and answer questions.

Below is a schedule of when each artist will be controlling the Page:
