Fighting Fatigue with Digital Engagement

As we look ahead to another year that will likely have at least some virtual component, this group of talented and seasoned educators offers up actionable suggestions and takeaways you can apply to your digital classroom right away to tackle the pitfalls of online instruction. This session focuses on ways to engage your students no matter the grade level or subject area, with a variety of online platforms, strategies, and dynamic ways to use images and art.

Speakers
•    Dr. Sarah Ackermann is a veteran educator with more than 14 years of experience in the field. She has taught all levels of art, from pre-K through adult. She loves to teach in face-to-face situations but also thrives online, having built and/or facilitated online courses and programs for several institutions. Ackermann has recently joined the Ball State University faculty, serving as their executive director for teaching innovation. She is an online art teachers (K-12) team leader.

•    Jennifer Steiner is the assistant principal at Gilbert High School and previously served as the digital learning coach at River Bluff High School. Steiner has worked in educational roles both inside and outside the classroom, serving as a math and science teacher, STEM instructor, curriculum consultant, and now administrator. Having worked in Lexington County for more than 13 years, she is well-versed in South Carolina state standards and requirements.

•    Eujon Anderson is the technology director for Troy City Schools in Troy, Alabama. As technology director, Anderson oversees the daily tasks of managing the network infrastructure of three schools as well as technology planning, professional development, and keeping the technology in order in the classrooms. Anderson currently provides for over 1500 technology devices, including a 1:1 initiative for grades 9 – 12. As a Google certified trainer, he also works with deploying G-Suite for Education to other small school systems in the state of Alabama. Anderson specializes in assisting schools as they begin using Google and providing professional learning for administrators and teachers on adopting G-Suite in the classroom.
