Guided tours of the Civil War Earthworks at the Battlefield of Congaree Creek will resume on November 14 and will run every Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Sundays at 2 p.m. through December 13. Sponsored by the 12,000 Year History Park Working Group, the City of Cayce, and the River Alliance, the 2-mile, hour-long guided walking tours include stops along the way that feature history of the 1865 battle as well as stories of soldier and civilian accounts of what happened during the burning of Columbia. Special Lantern Tours are scheduled for Saturday, November 21 and Saturday, December 12 starting at 6 p.m. Guides in period attire will bring all back in time to see and hear what people experienced the day of the battle. Lantern tours are approximately 90 minutes. All tours start at the Cayce Tennis Center, 1120 Congaree Trail in Cayce. Special group tours can also be arranged.
