CALL FOR ARTISTS: 701 CCA Prize 2020

Presented by 701 Center for Contemporary Art at Online/Virtual Space

About the 701 CCA Prize
The 701 CCA Prize, organized by 701 Center for Contemporary Art in Columbia, S.C., is a biennial, juried art competition and exhibition for professional South Carolina artists 40 years of age or younger.

The project’s purpose is to identify and recognize young artists whose work is exemplary in its originality, shows awareness of artistic developments, and is of high artistic merit. The 701 CCA Prize has been awarded biennially to one artist for outstanding art production since 2012.

Summary of Procedures
Applications must be submitted via this application portal by 11:30pm on August 23, 2020.

An independent jury of three art professionals will evaluate all work submitted and select the three finalists, who will be included in the 701 CCA Prize Exhibition. These jurors will also select the winner of the Prize, whose name will be announced at 701 CCA Prize Celebration.

The jury panel will select the winner based on the artists’ initial applications, not the work in the Prize Exhibition. The jury’s selection is based first on artistic merit as shown through provided images and, second, supporting materials detailing the applicants’ art production and career. The jury panel, to be announced, will include jurors with statewide, regional and national perspectives.

Individual works by each finalist for the 701 CCA Prize exhibition will be selected by a CCA curatorial team from artwork representative of those submitted by the artists in their initial application.

The 701 CCA Prize winner will receive:
